Tomorrow, Christians Will Choose Our Next World Leader
Ryan Higgins, My Faith Votes Vice President of National Engagement
Each of us makes thousands of decisions every day. Some decisions are good ones; eat a healthy meal, do something special to honor our spouse, purpose to play with our children. Some decisions are not so good; order that extra fast food item we didn’t need, sleep in and skip the gym, watch our favorite TV episode in lieu of reading our Bible. Just like this election, no matter what life brings in our paths, EVERY decision has at least two options; one would have a positive effect and the other a negative.
I am currently reading “Chase the Lion” by Mark Batterson and one of the things he talks about is a concept he calls the Ripple Effect. It’s the idea that every decision we make, whether to do or not do something, can have unfathomable results. Mark says, “One off-the-cuff conversation, one crazy idea, or one glance across a crowded room can change everything.” When I look back at my life, I can narrow every single impactful aspect to a single thing, most of which seemed grossly insignificant at the time.
What will the “ripple effect” of this election be for the entire world? I could bloviate the tired and trite talking points from all sides to outline all of the ramifications that tomorrow holds, but at this point, I am confident we are all aware of what is at stake.
With 90 million eligible Christian voters in America, WE will decide what the ripple effect will be. WE will be solely responsible for what happens tomorrow and the ripple effects that will be created for generations to come. It is no longer simply our responsibility to just vote. Each of us have a sphere of influence and if we fail to share with that sphere how important this election is and encourage every one of them to vote, we have decided to allow others to choose our next President for us. If we choose inaction, we must wake up on the 9th, look in the mirror and say to ourselves “IT’S YOUR FAULT!”
Take a few minutes right now and make a decision that will have positive ripple effects across your entire sphere of influence. Use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, email, telephone and anything else you can. Reach your friends and family as if your country depended on it, because it does.
Imagine for a second that you travel into the future and see an America void of Christ. A nation where terrorist attacks have become a normal part of our culture. A city that has turned its back on Christianity and its churches sit empty, used only for community activities. A country that not only accepts abortion but promotes it and performs them in the third trimester with your money. A world infiltrated by ISIS and one where the Unites States Military has become a laughing stock of our allies and enemies alike.
Now imagine you were able to travel back to today, November 7, 2016. What would you do? Would you think “I’d like to share this on Facebook but I have that one friend who I know will give me a hard time?” Absolutely not, you would spend the entire day posting, emailing and calling everyone you can. You would do it for your spouse, for your children and for your grandchildren, despite the negative feedback you that would ensue.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you, while I have not traveled to the future, I am confident the America I described above is the inevitable product of Christians sitting this one out.
I plead with every one of you; support candidates that promise to uphold our Christian liberties. Vote for the candidates who have surrounded themselves with committed Christians.
Let’s turn the tide on corrupt politics once and for all and begin to back America away from the cliff of moral decay and towards the King of Kings, the only leader who can truly heal our land.

My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.
