Pastor Allen Jackson on the Church’s Role in Shaping Culture

Pastor Allen Jackson, senior pastor of World Outreach Church and host of Allen Jackson Now, recently joined us for a deep discussion at the National Religious Broadcaster convention. Pastor Allen talks about pressing issues confronting the church and society, covering topics that range from the role of the church in politics to practical advice for both pastors and laypeople.

What's some advice you have for pastors who are not speaking out about current issues we’re facing as a nation and why is it so important to speak out?

The thing we hear most often is we don't want to be political. And I don't really disagree with that. I'm not trying to advocate for parties or candidates. Particularly in local elections, that's a problem. On a national level, the parties have platforms. They have written down what they intend to do, what they will spend money to do. And if you're a candidate running on a national party ticket, you're obligated to fulfill what's on those platforms. That's what shapes our culture. To me, it isn't being political; it's talking about what's happening in our current culture. And that is very much a biblical assignment.

If the pastor will not speak out on spiritual issues that our nation is facing, what is your advice for the congregation?

If we want to change the churches, we're going to have to change the hearts of the businesspeople, the housewives, the folks that comprise the churches. It is disingenuous to say I'll be different when the pastor is different. If your pastor dishonors God, if he doesn't recognize the uniqueness of Jesus, the virgin birth, the crucifixion and the resurrection, leave. It's not a church.

What do you say to the Christian that is uncomfortable voting for one of the two choices we have for presidents?

In a national election, usually we have a binary choice. We have A and B. To make no choice is to make a choice. If you say, I’m just not voting, you have surrendered any voice you have. In national elections, it’s not about a personality, but about policy. One party supports abortion up to the ninth month, redefined marriage, and gender modification for children. Be informed enough to know what the platforms are and then stop the nonsense about personalities.

Pastor Allen Jackson emphasized the unprecedented transformation happening in our society. "We have more liberty and freedom than any society in history because of our Judeo-Christian values. If we don't use our voices, we will lose our liberties and freedoms, and our grandchildren will suffer for it."

The conversation serves as a compelling reminder for Christians to be vigilant, informed, and active, especially in these transformational times. You can watch the full interview here.

My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.

My purpose is to spread the word to Christians that they should vote not according to the party but the platform of that party that acknowledge God's teachings on issues that are presented to them especially the things that God hates. Let our light shine in this world of darkness.
