Election Prayer Guide

In his book The Saints' Spiritual Delight, the Puritan Thomas Watson observed, "The door of heaven is always open for the prayers of God’s people." In that spirit, we invite you to join us, along with your friends and family, in praying for America as we approach the critical November 5th elections.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

PRAY FOR FAMILIES

Lord, I pray for policies to be advanced on election day that protect marriage, empower parents, and strengthen the family. Please give us leaders who understand the specific authorities You have entrusted to the church, family and government. Help every Christian who goes to the polls to remember Your plan for the family.

PRAY FOR THE SANCTITY OF LIFE

Creator God, thank You for giving me life and making me in your image. I pray that every Christian voter would not be distracted by side issues on their ballot but would instead be drawn to the voiceless and vote to protect life in America.

PRAY FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

Heavenly Father, help us not to be complacent with Your Word and the freedoms You have given to us. I pray every voter would remember the First Amendment and vote to protect their God-given right to freely worship You. I pray for the true freedom found only in You to spread across our country.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL

Lord, I pray for the people of Israel. I pray that You will draw them near to You and bring them to salvation and that you will protect them from all danger. Please guide every Christian voter and help them to remember Israel as they cast their ballots. I pray we continue to be a nation that stands boldly and courageously with our ally Israel.

PRAY FOR FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Almighty God, I pray for every leader who will be elected in Washington D.C., the statehouse, and in my local community that they would come to know the true wisdom that comes only from You. May the hearts of our elected leaders be humbled, that they would fear You, Lord, above all and seek You in prayer and in scripture to know how to handle the important issues of our day.

Lord, we thank You for the privilege we have to vote. We rejoice today that we are citizens of Your kingdom. May that make us all the more committed to being faithful citizens on earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
