Because I Care Campaign ‘helped me and my friends get ready to vote in a non-partisan way that spoke to the values we care about most — not politics — but voting for our biblical values'

DALLAS — With only one week remaining before the 2018 midterm elections, My Faith Votes, in collaboration with im2moro, a nonprofit organization informing and engaging the next generation in civic responsibility from a non-partisan, faith-based Constitutional perspective, are activating young Christian voters.

This unconventional and refreshing initiative aims to cut through the noise of today’s anger-filled political rhetoric and promotes voting as an opportunity to use one’s faith and values to help others.

The non-partisan effort provides Christian universities and Bible college students with all they need to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, access a full non-partisan sample ballot and candidate information to be fully informed of each candidate’s positions.

To date, 117 Christian colleges have utilized the “Because I Care” materials on campus, reaching a student population of 325,000. This year’s involvement is a marked increase from the 41 campuses and 135,000 students reached in 2016.

“We are excited to see such great results from our fresh, non-partisan messaging and tools to engage and equip students in the voting process,” said Audrea Decker, President of im2moro. “As we work with students across the country the message is clear — we are not telling students who to vote for but instead calling them to engage their faith and values to guide their voting decision.”

The Because I Care tools are used by school administrations to provide voting resources and non-partisan messaging and by Because I Care student representatives on campuses to mobilizes their classmates to display posters, set up information tables and help promote voting in chapel services.

“In a political climate as turbulent as California’s, I was grateful to have the Because I Care materials to distribute on my campus this midterm election,” said Ashley, a Because I Care student representative at Vanguard University. “I felt supported and equipped to encourage students at my university to vote and engage in politics from a faith-based perspective.”

Issac, a student representative at Oral Roberts University said, “The Because I Care campaign was a perfect initiative to run on my campus. It helped me and my friends get ready to vote in a non-partisan way that spoke to the values we care about most — not politics — but voting for our biblical values.”

Because of the efforts of My Faith Votes and im2moro the youngest generation of Christian voters on campuses across the country have been prepared to vote, and more importantly, they recognize voting is not a partisan act, it is a biblical act that brings faith into the communities.

“Our goal is not to turn out the vote for Republicans, Democrats or Independents,” stated Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes. “We want Christian college students — all Christians actually — to understand that part of living out their faith in the public square necessitates getting involved in the political process, and the easiest way for most people to do that is by voting.”

Nearly 70,000 local, state and federal-level elections are being held next Tuesday, November 6.

My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.
