Ahead of the 2018 Midterm Elections,
Gov. Mike Huckabee Joins My Faith Votes as
Honorary National Chairman

“My goal is simple: to see every single Christian in America show up during every single election to make their voices heard.” — Gov. Mike Huckabee

DALLAS — As the nation gears up for a consequential 2018 midterm election, My Faith Votes announces that Gov. Mike Huckabee will succeed Dr. Ben Carson as the organization’s new honorary national chairman.

Gov. Mike Huckabee will now lead one of America’s largest grassroots voter movements, focused exclusively on the Christian electorate. During the 2016 Presidential Election, My Faith Votes was largely credited with activating a sizable percentage of the 25 million Evangelicals who were registered to vote in previous elections but had chosen not to, prompting a record turnout by Evangelicals.

“Gov. Huckabee is an icon of the conservative movement, and easily one of the most influential Christians in politics. He understands as well as anyone why people of faith must be involved in the public square,” said Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes. “During a time when crucial decisions on immigration, health care, religious freedom and the sanctity of human life will be made, Christians must be involved in the national debates more than ever before.”

“I could not be more thrilled to accept this role as the new honorary national chairman of My Faith Votes. For nearly forty years, as a pastor, governor and presidential candidate, I’ve never been more convinced of this: Christians will determine every election in America if they just show up,” said Gov. Mike Huckabee. “We’ve reached a tipping point in America’s history, and we’ll either emerge from it stronger and better than ever before or we’ll slide into an irreversible decline. It’s time for people of faith to step up to the plate and lead our nation.”

“My goal is simple: to see every single Christian in America show up during every single election to make their voices heard,” Gov. Huckabee added. “I’m proud to join My Faith Votes.”

Johnnie Moore, spokesperson for My Faith Votes, also welcomed the arrival of Gov. Huckabee to the organization and expressed confidence in the movement’s future.

“My Faith Votes played a consequential role in the 2016 election,” said Moore. “We are just getting started.”

Comments from National Faith Leaders on Gov. Huckabee’s Appointment:

“In these days of great national tension, turmoil and especially tragedy, America needs men and women of faith who will unite us and help our country heal. In all my years of knowing Gov. Mike Huckabee, I’ve seen him lead with unwavering integrity, always guided by thoughtful prayer and faith in God. He’s the kind of leader who steps up not for personal gain but because of a greater calling in his life to serve others, to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and to stand up for truth, even when doing so is not popular. I could not think of a better person to lead My Faith Votes, and to encourage Christians and tell them this is the moment to put their faith in action in the public square.”

— Dr. Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day of Prayer and senior pastor of Cross Church

“Of all the organizations involved in educating and motivating Americans to participate in our electoral process, I believe none is more important or needed today than My Faith Votes. Make no mistake: the real battle in America is not about a policy agenda or who gets elected to office — it’s a battle for truth. And the church must be at the forefront of this struggle. This is why I’m delighted to hear Gov. Mike Huckabee will now serve as the honorary national chairman of the My Faith Votes movement. He’s the paragon of faith speaking truth to power. I believe that through his leadership more and more Christians will rise to their calling to be a light in the middle of darkness.”

— Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference
