God of the Details
This week's focus: Guidance
I drove my car up and down the rows of a crowded lot, trying to find a parking space. I didn’t want to be late for an important meeting, but the odds of getting there on time weren’t good. Forced to drive further and further away from the entrance to the building, I sighed when rain began to fall on my windshield—and I didn’t have an umbrella. I desperately needed a parking lot miracle, so I prayed, “Dear Lord, nothing is too difficult for You. Can You please help me find a spot? If the answer is no, that’s okay, but it won’t be that I didn’t ask. I love You, Lord, Amen.”
I continued to pass car after car before turning and driving back towards the main entrance. Then, miraculously, I saw a truck backing out of a parking space right in front of the building. Not only did God answer my prayer, but He went above and beyond and gave me VIP parking!
Overjoyed, I couldn’t help but share how good God was when I walked into the meeting. Everyone smiled except for one man who rolled his eyes and said, “Oh Jennifer, don’t waste God’s time on such little prayers. He has far more important things to deal with than finding you a parking spot.” In response, I smiled and told him that when God answers small prayers, it emphasizes how great, personal, and awesome He is.
As Christians, we trust God with eternity but can sometimes struggle with the here and now and try to figure “the small stuff” out on our own. I’m so thankful that Philippians 4:6 invites us to bring our big and small prayers to the Lord when we read, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” We honor Him when we acknowledge He is the God of our eternity and the God of our moments.
Psalm 37:23 says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (NLT). The reward for those who belong to Jesus isn’t just for the age to come but also while we walk through this world. When we grasp how much He loves and delights in His children, we will be more confident in praying to Him about everything.
I’m thankful I prayed a specific, small prayer that day because God got the glory when I got my parking lot miracle. Not only that, but I was able to share how personal our Creator is to a man who thought God didn’t have time for little prayers.
Knowing this, may we be in constant conversation with the Lord and not be afraid to present our requests before Him. If our prayers aren’t answered as we would have hoped, that’s okay (He knows what is best for us), but may it never be that we didn’t ask.

Luke 12:6-7
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Prayer Points:
Pray: Dear Lord, Your great power and love are more than we can comprehend. You oversee the tiniest details of the universe and every moment of our lives—even the hairs of our heads are numbered. We praise You, Jesus, for making a way for us to approach Your throne of grace with confidence. We delight in You.
Think: “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.” ― Saint Augustine
Act: God is concerned with details, and as His ambassadors in this world, so should we. Did you know that the Senate recently approved a massive spending package? Advancing American Freedom has provided a fact sheet on “the good, the bad, and the ugly” that the law funds. We must be informed if we are to hold our elected officials accountable. See how your Senators voted on the $1.2 trillion budget bill here, and your Representative here. Keep that in mind as you head to the polls this November.
We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
