See Which Senators Voted No on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
We are deeply disappointed that yesterday evening the Senate failed to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would have banned abortions after 20 weeks gestation when babies feel pain.
This vote not only failed to acknowledge fundamental science but it ignored the voice of the majority of Americans. According to a recent Marist and Knights of Columbus poll, 76% of Americans don’t support abortion after 12 weeks of pregnancy.
The vote was 51-46 in the Senate falling short just 9 votes to reach the 60-vote threshold needed to pass the bill into law.
Three Democrats crossed party lines to vote in favor of the legislation, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Bob Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana. Two Republicans failed to vote for life, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Senator John McCain was absent.
Here is the list of Senators up for re-election this year so that you can check how each one voted on this crucial bill.
Senators who voted against the bill:
- Democrat Tim Kaine, VA
- Democrat Sherrod Brown, OH
- Democrat Claire McCaskill, MO
- Democrat Heidi Heitkamp, ND
- Democrat Jon Tester, MT
- Democrat Maria Cantwell, WA
Senators who voted for the bill:
- Democrat Joe Manchin, WV
- Democrat Bob Casey Jr., PA
- Democrat Joe Donnelly, IN
Senators who did not vote:
- Democrat Tammy Baldwin, WI
- Democrat Bill Nelson, FL

###
My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.
