My Faith Votes For Life
Dear Church Leader, The children of Ohio urgently need your church’s prayers and action. I imagine you’re as concerned as I am about Issue 1. It’s on the ballot this November in Ohio and it is one of the most radical expansions of abortion in history. It would enshrine the killing of preborn children at any age, by any method, for any reason as a constitutional right while outlawing parental notification and all other commonsense restrictions. My name is Jason Yates. I lead an organization called My Faith Votes. We motivate and equip Christians to vote in every election because when Christians vote, biblical values win. We’re reaching out to pastors and church leaders like you throughout Ohio. Many pastors are already speaking out against Issue 1 and urging people to vote NO. Just last week over 100 Ohio pastors signed an open letter stating, “Enough is enough. We will make our voices heard, and together we will vote NO on Issue 1.” Will you take a stand too? Here are five ways you can help.
It’s okay to use your voice. Despite what you may have heard, the IRS allows churches and religious organizations to advocate for positions on ballot initiatives, referenda, and state constitutional amendments put to a direct public vote. You won’t risk your tax status by speaking up, but you will risk the lives of unborn children if you don’t. The Bible calls us to defend the voiceless and vulnerable. Proverbs 31: 8-9 says, “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” I pray you will use your voice to defend the unborn children of Ohio by encouraging your congregation to vote NO on Issue 1.
